This presentation will debrief a callout in which the presenter was the secondary/coach for a new primary negotiator during an active shooter/barricaded subject. This presentation will examine strategies for negotiating and verbal containment with a psychotic subject. The effects of this incident on negotiators and the department will be considered, along with other issues such as a multiagency response, officer safety, and resolution of a difficult and dynamic incident.
