INCIDENT DEBRIEF
Location: Palo Verde BC
On Oct. 6, 2014, the Collier County Sheriff's Office HNT and SWAT Teams were requested by the Seminole Police Department for mutual aid in reference to a homicide. At the time of the call, the suspect was barricaded inside the residence with the victim. Upon arrival, information was gathered, and Negotiator Brian Clervoix made contact with the suspect, Aaron Campbell Reyna, via telephone. Negotiation went on for approximately 45 minutes. Upon a successful negotiation, the suspect surrendered and exited the residence. He was taken into custody by the SWAT Team. Once in custody, Reyna requested to speak with Negotiator Clervoix regarding the homicide. At this point, Clervoix switched hats from negotiator and assumed the role of detective. During the interview, Reyna provided a full confession to the homicide. Reyna was later placed under arrest. After many motions to suppress the confession through his attorneys, in March 2018, Reyna took the case to trial and was found guilty of second-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison.
