SEMINAR
Location: Palo Verde BC
Negotiations through the Polyvagal lens is a look at the negotiations process through the works of Dr. Stephen Porges and Deb Dana LMSW, also touching on the work of Dr. Bessel van der Kolk. Lorenzo 'Enzo' Ortiz takes the research and application of these experts/researchers/clinicians and translates them for law enforcement and specifically negotiators.
Negotiations through the Polyvagal lens is for negotiators interested in the science and psychology of what is happening inside the minds and bodies of individuals we are tasked to communicate with. This block of instruction also focuses on the suggested practices for helping connect with those individuals we contact and how to bring them to a state of cooperation, curiosity and creative thinking in the tense situations negotiators face. While on the academic side, Enzo also brings to light the practical and functional aspects of the theory for street level negotiations.
