Current trends in SWAT and the threats that these units face demand that officers, leaders, and administrators continually seek to increase their operational capabilities and professionalize the tactical teams under their command. To do this we must consistently evaluate new procedures for inclusion into existing models. This process is not without its pitfalls, and if not managed properly by leadership it can lead to a convoluted process resulting in a hodgepodge of tactics with no unifying goal.
