Abernathy, Brian
SEMINAR
Location: Maryland B
This presentation offers a candid, experience-based discussion on leadership, mission planning, and organizational accountability through the lens of a Tier 1 Special Operations veteran. Drawing on over two decades of service in the Ranger Regiment, Delta Force, and Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), Brian Abernathy explores how the principles that guide elite military units can be adapted to meet the evolving demands of modern law enforcement. As agencies face increasingly complex and high-risk operations, this session examines the convergence of mission sets between Special Operations Forces (SOF) and law enforcement agencies (LEAs), highlighting the critical need for adaptable, capable, and accountable leaders at every level. Attendees will analyze breakdowns in traditional training pipelines, explore actionable leadership frameworks, and learn how to operationalize command intent, task organization, and accountability to enhance performance and reduce risk.
