Jones, Steven
Since 2009 Officer Steven Jones has served in many roles with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, including patrol officer, field training officer, detective, and crime scene investigator. He has received numerous departmental awards that include a S.W.A.T. Commendation and Patrol Officer of the Year. Officer Jones is a Steering Committee member for the Law Enforcement Drone Association, a 501(c)(3) that conducts training for agencies nationwide. Officer Jones began using drones in 2018 to photograph and map crime scenes. In 2020 he was instrumental in the department's integration of drones into SWAT response, and has flown hundreds of missions, both indoor and outdoor, in active SWAT incidents. In 2023 Officer Jones collaborated with Vanderbilt Engineering students to create a 3D printable drone goggle mount that interfaces with commonly used night vision mounts. The file has been supplied free of charge to hundreds of agencies in the United States and 13 countries.
