Salcedo, Rick

Detective Rick Salcedo retired from the Orlando Police Department after 26 years of service. He was a Sex Crimes Detective assigned to the Special Victim Unit for over 17 years. He was an on-call Crisis/Hostage Negotiator for 18 years. As a negotiator, he responded to several calls involving suicidal individuals and barricaded gunmen. He has successfully negotiated several situations without the loss of life. Detective Salcedo instructs the Advanced Sex Crimes and Child Sex Crimes Investigations Courses at the Valencia State College School of Public Safety and the Eastern State College Public Safety Institute. He is currently employed as a Sex Crimes Detective at the University of Central Florida Police Department. He was the lead negotiator at the Livingston Street incident and one of the negotiators who responded to the 2016 Pulse Massacre. He retired from the Orlando Police Department in November 2016 and joined the UCF Police Department. He was speaker at the 2017 Florida Annual Instructor Training Conference, the Florida Hostage Negotiators Conference, the 2018 Michigan Hostage Negotiators Conference, the 2019 Indiana, Ohio, and Rocky Mountain Hostage-Crisis Negotiators Conferences, the 2021 Texas and California Association of Hostage Negotiators Conference, the 2022 Western State Hostage Negotiator Conference and the Calgary Hostage Negotiators Seminar.
