Gruner, Benjamin
Ben Gruner has been involved in law enforcement and related training for over 24 years. He started his career with the Coldwater (MI) Police Department (2 years) and now serves with the Phoenix (AZ) Police Department (18 years). He has worked general patrol and the "Walking Beat," a specialty unit working the numerous housing projects of downtown Phoenix. Ben has been assigned for the last 14 years as a full-time member of the Special Assignments Unit (SWAT) for the PPD. In addition to his general duties as an entry team member, he has served as the lead instructor in multiple areas, including carbine, handgun, less-lethal, and airborne interdiction. He also has had the opportunity to coordinate 13 selection processes for SAU. Ben has presented use-of-force training and training techniques to over 175 federal, state, local and international law enforcement agencies. He has also presented at numerous training conferences across the country.
